Providing support back to work
26 February 2010
One of dg mutual’s members ran a successful dentist practice and enjoyed full health until a condition called Cervical Spondylosis left him unable to work for almost a year.
Cervical Spondylosis causes extreme neck pain due to the wear and tear of the vertebrae and discs in the neck. Sadly, it’s a common condition amongst dentists due to the nature of the job.
dg mutual paid out the claim from the first day the dentist was unable to work and continued to pay a large proportion of his income for eleven months.
When doctors told the dentist he could work again, he was supported back to work by state of the art ergonomics equipment including a specialist chair and neck rest.
Despite the member claiming for almost a year, he is still fully entitled to claim again if the worst happens. And he is building a nest egg for his retirement as all of dg mutual’s profits are shared amongst members as a tax-free cash lump sum when their policy expires. To date, he has accumulated over £5000.
